While nothing is official yet, both Scott Gomez and Travis Moen remain game time decisions for tonight's contest between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings at the Bell Centre.
If either player turns out to be injured for a period of time, it would be yet another crippling blow to a Canadiens team that has dealt with more than its fair share of injuries throughout the first quarter of the season.
And it started right off the bat: in the first game in Toronto Andrei Markov's left ankle was sliced by Carey Price's skate, leaving the "power play" out for four months.
Just dumb luck, but that dumb luck just might be the reason for the Canadiens' struggles so far.
And that rotten luck has continued, as Ryan O'Byrne, Georges Laraque, Hal Gill, Brian Gionta, and now Gomez and Moen have all been bitten by the injury bug. The losses of Gionta, Gomez, and Moen in such a short period of time could prove to be catastrophic for the Canadiens.
So now the man that runs this show, Bob Gainey, needs to find a solution.
That solution is to not find a solution.
