For the first time this year, Nets fans have something to cheer about. According to sources, former Dallas Mavericks head coach, and current ESPN NBA analyst Avery Johnson, has reached a verbal agreement to become the next New Jersey Nets head coach.
The Nets had a horrible season last year, finishing with a 12-70 record despite having talent on their team with Devin Harris and Brook Lopez. Johnson could flip the script next year as he brings his winning ways over to New Jersey.
Even though the term "winning ways" does not seem true, if you look closely, you would see that Johnson had a .735 winning percentage with Dallas.
This was the best replacement that New Jersey could have gotten. You give up a mediocre coach in Lawrence Frank, and in return you get a coach that has a reputation for winning and on top of that, he has young talent on his team in Devin Harris and Brook Lopez
Here's a bold prediction: They New Jersey Nets will make the playoffs next year as a seven seed.
My point? This was a great personnel move by the New Jersey Nets.
