Mike Modano has signed with the Detroit Red Wings!
And in all of the hoopla, Darren Helm's signing was overshadowed.
The explosive center re-signed with the Detroit Red Wings, just hours after Modano inked a new contract with Detroit.
Helm's deal is a reported two-year, $1.825 million dollar contract.
The most important part of the deal is not only locking Helm up for two years, but the money he will be paid.
Helm is slated to receive $912,500 in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
This is also great news because Detroit can't afford losing Helm.
Helm is coming off his first full season with the Red Wings. Only playing a total of 98 regular season games for the red and white, Helm has already accumulated 53 playoff games.
In 98 career games over parts of the last three seasons, this past being his first full season, Helm has registered 11 goals and 14 assists.
In 53 career playoff games, he has added seven goals and three assists.
Helm recorded six goals combined in the 2008 and 2009 playoffs, before ever registering his first ever regular-season goal last year.
