Rod Brind’Amour Joins Carolina Hurricanes As Director of Forwards Development

Former Carolina Hurricanes captain Rod Brind’Amour has been named the Hurricanes' Director of Forwards Development.

Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford described the position: “He will develop some players who are not on the big club but he will also develop and work on some things he’s noticed with the players with the big club. He’ll be on the ice at training camp under the direction of the coaching staff. During the season he will attend most games in Raleigh when he’s not traveling to Charlotte (American Hockey League affiliate) to work with the players there.”

Rutherford continued, praising Brind’Amour: “It is important for our team to have the most accomplished players like Rod stay with the organization. Rod is already displaying the same work ethic and dedication in his new role as he did with us as a player.”

Brind’Amour announced his retirement in June after a 20-year career. Brind’Amour captained the Hurricanes to the franchise's only Stanley Cup victory in 2006. He also spent time with the St. Louis Blues and Philadelphia Flyers.
