It's been a rough opening games for the defending Stanley Cup Champions. They've yet to win a game, even at home after their Stanley Cup banner was raised.
Early season injuries to Brian Campbell (knee) and Patrick Sharp (upper body) forced both players to sit out Saturday. Sharp is day-to-day while Campbell won't be back for another 4-5 weeks, a huge loss at the beginning of the season.
Watching both games I've noticed that the new young players and the returning players are not totally in sync yet, or, in other words, they don't have that team chemistry last year's team did.
Last year you could tell that the players knew each other's game style and where they were going to be on the ice. It's hard to say that about this year's team. This is only an early season problem and shouldn't be an issue later on in the season.
While you can never make the playoffs in October, however, you sure can limit the possibility of making it in October.
