Evaluating the New York Rangers’ 2010 Draft Picks With This Season’s Stats

The New York Rangers made six draft picks during this summer’s NHL entry draft and each of them have begun their seasons in their specific junior leagues. Here is a small update on how the Rangers draftees are playing for their junior (and European) teams.

First Round- Dylan Mcilrath (D): In nine games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL the 10th overall draft pick has scored one point (an assist) and 23 penalty minutes. He isn’t much of a scoring defenseman, but he is showing off his fighting and hitting skills with his massive 23 penalty minutes.

Second Round- Christian Thomas (RW): The fortieth overall draft pick has played only five games this season for the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. In the five games he has scored eight goals, five assists, 13 points, and two penalty minutes. He has put up excellent offensive numbers for the Generals, and he will likely do the same when he comes to the Rangers in a few seasons.

Third Round- the Rangers did not have a third round draft pick.

Fourth Round- Andrew Yogan (Center): Yogan has not played yet due to an injury. He is expected to begin his season in November.
