Last night in the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the NHL's most hated player (Sean Avery) struck again. He gave a two-handed slash to the ankle of Mike Komisarek (a Maple Leafs defenseman) and was given a minor penalty for slashing.
It was a dirty play by Avery for sure, and a suspension seemed likely. But according to Daren Dreger, Sean Avery will not be suspended or have a hearing for the incident. I am surprised by this, but at the same time very happy to hear everything will be alright.
This is good news for the Rangers, who lost two forwards (including their top scorer Marian Gaborik) to injuries last night. Losing Sean Avery would add on to the troubles, even if the suspension was only one or two games.
Avery was a big part of getting the Rangers a point in last night's game with two assists, and the Rangers could not risk losing one of their better players (again, even if it were only a game or two).
That's all for now.
