At times, you have to learn to win when you don't have your best game. Although the Stars fell to the Flames, there were some things that we can take away from the result.
The Stars really need more scoring depth. While the top two lines are very good, when one of them (like the Brad Richards—Loui Eriksson—James Neal one) is shut down, it really puts a lot of pressure on the other one and the rest of the team. If the Stars are going to succeed, they need to have more production out of the bottom two lines to succeed.
Kari Lehtonen continues to look better and better in net. The way the Stars are continuing to play, Lehtonen has really shown his improvement from last season and now looks to be helping Dallas take the next step. Tonight, he helped steal a point in a game that the Stars really had no business winning.
Trevor Daley has had some shaky moments defensively. Although he has had his moments, such as in overtime when he almost willed the Stars to victory, he really needs to play more soundly on the defensive end. Being one of the Stars best defensemen, though, he should be back to normal soon enough.
