The Los Angeles Kings took on the Pittsburgh Penguins in a cross-conference matchup yesterday at the Consol Energy Center.
The Penguins came into the game missing forwards Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz to injury and Matt Cooke to a suspension. So, four players were recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate.
One of those callups was Brett Sterling, who was born in Los Angeles and considers Pasadena home. He played hockey in southern California from the time he was four until he was 16. He grew up a Kings fan and was even a member of the Jr. Kings.
Unfortunately, he scored the game’s first goal against the Kings, also his first of the season.
