Dwight Howard joins a long line of centers who left their smaller markets to chase a title with the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite all the early fanfare, where will he rank among their all-time big-man greats when he hangs up that yellow jersey for the final time?
So much depends on how long Dwight actually remains in L.A., but even if he indeed finishes his career with the Lakers, he still has quite the mountain to climb.
Can he surpass George Mikan's seven titles (though only five were in the NBA as we know it) with the Minneapolis Lakers? What about Wilt Chamberlain's career contributions, even if he only did nab one ring in L.A.? More importantly, Shaquille O'Neal has the three-peat, while Kareem Abdul Jabaar has five championships and the key to the record books.
NBA assistant editors Ethan Norof and Joel C. Cordes debate how long Dwight must play and what he must accomplish to even be in this conversation. Be sure to leave your predictions in the comments section below!
