The Philadelphia 76ers couldn't have asked for a much better start to their eight-game homestand than a 97-80 victory over the New York Knicks.

With the win, the Sixers improve to 18-25 on the season, while the Knicks fall to 26-15 with the loss.

From the get-go it was clear that Doug Collins' squad had the edge in the energy department, and it helped that they were coming off of a four-day layoff.

Jrue Holiday was spectacular for Philly, scoring a career-high 35 points on 16-of-25 shooting. The All-Star point guard also pitched in six assists, five rebounds and a steal in an efficient night that left him with a +30 in the plus/minus column.

Other key contributors for the energized Philadelphia squad included Thaddeus Young (10 points, four rebounds), Evan Turner (20 points, six rebounds, three assists) and Nick Young (20 points, four rebounds and a surprising four assists).

Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks didn't have their trademark sharpshooting fine tuned on Saturday night, and it all started and ended with 'Melo, who faltered to the tune of 25 points on 9-of-28 shooting (0-of-6 from beyond the arc).
