Behind a breakout game from lottery pick Trey Lyles, the Utah Jazz capped off their Las Vegas Summer League run with an 84-78 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
Lyles dropped a personal summer-best 20 points on 7-of-19 shooting (including 4-of-7 from three-point range) and grabbed nine rebounds.
Perhaps most encouraging for Jazz fans, 6'10" Lyles looked more than comfortable running the pick-and-roll, something Utah expected from the No. 12 pick as a mobile 4.
Two other Jazz players reached double-figures with Bryce Cotton and Jared Cunningham dropping 15 each. Both struggled from the field (combined 4-of-17), but managed to get to the line at will, shooting a combined 20-of-24 from the stripe.
The Lakers, meanwhile, were led by D'Angelo Russell, who had his best performance of the summer. Russell scored a game-high 21 points on 10-of-20 shooting. He only had one assist, but his teammates blew a number of assist opportunities.
