Twenty-three years ago Saturday, the Dream Team was crowned with gold after defeating Croatia 117-85 at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
It was the United States' first Olympic team to feature professional players—a roster composed of the NBA's greatest legends, including Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird (just to name a few).
Led by Chuck Daly and a coaching staff that featured Mike Krzyzewski, the team barreled through its international opponents, winning by an average of 44 points. Its smallest margin of victory was the 32 points by which it took the gold-medal game.
The squad went down in history as "arguably the most dominant squad ever assembled in any sport," as Sports Illustrated's Jack McCallum put it. And more than two decades later, the Dream Team and all its stars stand just as tall as they did on that podium in 1992.
