The Houston Rockets have waived 11-year veteran Chuck Hayes, per Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.
Hayes played in just two games for the Rockets this season, scoring four points and grabbing eight rebounds. His second tenure with the team lasted just seven days after he signed Nov. 1. After an 0-3 start, the Rockets have won four in a row, but Hayes obviously is not in their plans.
He received a DNP (did not play) coach's decision in his last game with Houston on Nov. 7, a 109-105 road victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.
As CBSSports.com noted, Hayes signed with Houston to provide frontcourt depth, especially with Donatas Motiejunas recovering from a back injury.
Mark Berman of Houston's Fox 26 took to Twitter to say this may not be the end of the line for the 32-year-old power forward:
He signed with Houston in 2005 after going undrafted and spent six seasons with the team. Hayes has averaged 3.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game during his career, which has included stops with the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings.
