Henrik Lundqvist was the star of the New York Rangers' 3-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, recording 33 saves in a shutout.
When Lundqvist saluted the crowd after being named one of the three stars of the game, the Rangers goalie decided to try to reward a fan for coming to the game by tossing his stick into the stands. However, that only led to an all-out battle for the stick.
A group of New York fans fought for the stick, and one fan even found himself in a pretty tough spot as a result of the tug-of-war battle.
Eventually, Madison Square Garden security stepped in and resolved the matter—by taking the stick away and making it so nobody went home with it.
This free-for-all shows why we can't have nice things.
