Tony Wroten to Sign with Knicks: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

The New York Knicks could use some additional scoring punch from the wing, and they will reportedly add some Monday in the form of former Philadelphia 76ers guard Tony Wroten.

Shams Charania of The Vertical and ESPN.com's Ian Begley reported the Knicks were finalizing an agreement with Wroten. Charania noted the deal is expected to be a three-year contract, but Bleacher Report's Howard Beck noted cap experts relayed to him that the Knicks are unable to do a three-year deal "because they're over the cap and don't have an exception to use."

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News first reported on March 1 that the Knicks met with Wroten.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports noted the 76ers released Wroten on Christmas Eve “to make room for acquired guard Ish Smith.” Dan Woike of the Orange County Register said in the immediate aftermath of that move that the Los Angeles Clippers spoke to Wroten last season before he suffered a knee injury, although their roster was full at the time.
