Mark Wahlberg Agrees to Produce Movie About Caron Butler’s Life

Actor Mark Wahlberg will help produce a movie based on the life of Sacramento Kings forward Caron Butler.

"I wanted to tell my story because I'm living proof that it is possible to overcome adversity and make a better life for yourself and your family," Butler said in a press release Tuesday. "The response from the book was overwhelming and when someone like [Wahlberg] tells you that your life could be a movie, you listen."

The film will be based on Butler's memoir, Tuff Juice: My Journey from the Streets to the NBA, which hit stores in October. Last week, he posted an Instagram photo after signing over the movie rights for the book:



The 35-year-old native of Racine, Wisconsin, sold crack cocaine as a child, and before he turned 15, he had been arrested 15 times, per Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman. Last February, Fox Sports Live aired a brief documentary detailing Butler's troubled past:
