Elfrid Payton Injury: Updates on Magic PG’s Elbow and Return

Elfrid Payton suffered an elbow injury March 8 against the Los Angeles Lakers and hasn't played since. It's unclear when he will return to the court.

Payton Injury Deprives Magic of Key Distributor Payton has been able to stay mostly healthy through his first two NBA seasons. The only serious injury concern he has dealt with was an ankle injury that caused him to miss four games in January. 

The former first-round pick appeared in all 82 games as a rookie and is showing signs of improvement in his sophomore campaign. Shooting is not Payton's best weapon, but his three-point percentage is a strong 38.2 percent. 

The Magic have leveled off after falling out of the Eastern Conference playoff mix. Payton remains a key piece of Orlando's future as a distributor of the basketball and floor leader. He's still evolving into the point guard the team needs him to be, so missing time is going to set him back.
