San Jose 3, Los Angeles 2 (San Jose leads series 3-1) 

The San Jose Sharks became the first NHL team from California to win a home game in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night. San Jose used a trio of power-play goals to move into a 3-1 series lead over the Los Angeles Kings. 

After a scoreless first period, Brent Burns rocketed home the first tally of the contest on the man advantage. 

Seven minutes following the first San Jose goal, Joe Pavelski maneuvered his way in front of the net and slotted in the second goal of the game. 

San Jose pounced for its third power-play goal at the start of the third period as Patrick Marleau punished the Kings one minute and 40 seconds into the final stanza. 

Los Angeles produced an immediate response by way of a Trevor Lewis goal two minutes and 49 seconds into the third. Luke Schenn brought the visitors within one of the Sharks, but the Kings were unable to beat Martin Jones for a third time despite a heavy load of pressure in the attacking zone.
