Celtics Waive Lester Hudson: Do They Want Rafer Alston?

The Boston Globe reported that the Boston Celtics waived backup point guard Lester Hudson. Hudson was just getting into his groove while Rajon Rondo was out with a left knee injury.

It was strange timing for the Celtics to make a move like this, right when many of the ball handlers are injured. Could the Celtics be opening a roster spot for the recently waived Rafer Alston?

Getting Rafer Alston would be the only logical reason for the Celtics to waive Lester Hudson.

After they have taken their chances on Tony Allen, J.R Giddens, and Bill Walker, wouldn't they have given Hudson a better chance? However, they never had an opportunity in the last two years like this one.

Alston would be the ideal last piece to the Celtics' championship plans. 

This past summer, the Celtics felt as though they had gotten two of their missing pieces in Rasheed Wallace and Marquis Daniels. They had planned for Marquis Daniels to run the back-p point guard position.

A Pacer fan told me this past summer that we would not be happy with Daniels at point guard.

He was correct for saying this.
