For over a decade, the Florida Panthers have consistently faced an uncertain future. It seems like every year has been a rebuilding year, even if nobody admits it. Fans, coaches, and players have all lacked confidence in their team's playing ability.
However, there is one thing that the Panthers should be proud of. Despite all of their problems, they do have solid goaltending. Tomas Vokoun is playing very well and, although the team in front of him has floundered, Vokoun has proven himself to be one of the best goalies in the NHL. Most would consider him the biggest reason the Panthers are still in the playoff hunt.
With that said, Vokoun is 33 years old. Although his career with Florida is far from over (hopefully), it's never too early to find a suitable replacement. The fact that Vokoun will be around for five to 10 more years gives Florida a lot of time to develop a prospect.
Right now, one possible replacement for Vokoun is a 20 year old Jacob Markstrom.
