Well, it seems everyone's favorite NBA clown gets a pass.
Gilbert Arenas was sentenced today to 30 days in a halfway house, 400 hours of community service, and 18 months probation for his "bad joke" of bringing guns into the Wizards' locker room.
What he did not receive was jail time, despite the prosecutors in the case requesting a three-month sentence.
This is bad news if you're a Wizards fan.
About the only hope the Wizards had of successfully voiding this idiot's contract was for Arenas to be in jail when training camp started. By all rights, he should have been, but the judge thought differently.
What was the judge thinking?
He felt that since Arenas was a) really, really sorry, b) had lost millions in lost endorsements and lost salary, and c) has lost his cult status as a lovable goofball ("Hibachi!"), that he had already been punished enough. Phooey!
Okay, what does this mean for the Wizards?
Quite simply, it means that they are stuck with "Agent Zero." As already mentioned, the contract can no longer be successfully voided, there's no way they will buy out the $80 Million left on Arenas' contract. ...
