I don't think John Wall will fall from the top spot unless Evan Turner shows some sort of ungodly talent that has not been witnessed before. Wall is the sure shot. He is freakishly athletic and showed that in the past week at the draft combine.
Wall sported a 39-inch vertical. Not too shabby—only about as athletic as Dwight Howard, and Vince Carter when he was in his prime.
The draft process is extensive, despite taking its course over a relatively short period of time. There is just under a month left for teams to make their final evaluations and hopefully select the impact player they were hoping for at their draft slot.
For teams picking in the top five, there is a tremendous amount of pressure to secure a solid player. These picks are typically thought to be the best players in the draft. Perhaps they're not the best down the road, but many consider them the best at draft time.
That doesn't mean that players like Carlos Boozer, Gilbert Arenas, and Michael Redd aren't hiding later in the draft though. And top picks are not always the sure thing. Just ask the Clippers, who picked Michael Olowokandi, and the Wizards, who picked Kwame Brown.
