Years ago, Kevin Durant may have accidentally made life a little bit harder for himself and the rest of the NBA.
Back when Karl-Anthony Towns—then simply Karl Towns—was a freshman at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey, he interviewed the Oklahoma City Thunder star, relishing the "unique opportunity" to speak to one of his "basketball idols."
Towns asked the 2013-14 MVP if he had any influences pushing him to work harder and be a better player, to which Durant replied, "My brother."
However, if Durant had a hand in motivating Towns to be the player he is, already averaging 16.1 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in his rookie season, he may come to regret being such an inspiration to the young Timberwolves center.
Towns won't compete against his idol in the NBA until Jan. 12.
