Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers has been fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing a seat cushion into the stands during Wednesday night's season opener against the Sacramento Kings.
Dan Woike of the Orange County Register provided the NBA's official statement announcing the punishment:
According to USA Today's Sam Amick, the incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Clippers' 111-104 win over the Kings at Sleep Train Arena, and the cushion struck a fan.
Head coach Doc Rivers, who is Austin's father, jokingly said, "I'm so disappointed as a parent," per Woike.
"The situation caused a stir among Kings fans on hand, as the woman who was hit by the cushion in the second row was clearly experiencing discomfort in her eyes for quite some time after the incident," Amick wrote.
Since Rivers looks to have avoided a suspension, he should be available when the Clippers host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night at 10:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
