Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs Similarities

I thought of writing this article after the Celtics lost to the Spurs. When these two teams play, they have a very similar style of play. The best players in the same position, as well as two gifted and talented young point guards.

I would like to discuss their teams by position:

1) center

The Boston Celtics have one heck of a center in Kendrick Perkins, a serious strong, but undersized bigman. If he was a 7 footer, he could have been the most dominating big man defensively in the league.

The Spurs have Antonio McDyess. Many would argue that Tim plays center, but once they are against Boston, Tim has to play. McDyess is not so similar to Perkins, but in his youth, he was pretty good, as he has averaged 1.1 blocks for his career.

2) power forward

Boston hasthe big ticket Kevin Garnett, while the Spurs have the best Pf in history (supposedly) in Tim Duncan. Many would say that KG has lost it, but hey, his presence on the court is enough and even now, he can score a lot of points.
