Chris Andersen Injury: Updates on Grizzlies Forward’s Shoulder and Return

Memphis Grizzlies forward Chris Andersen is dealing with a shoulder injury and will likely miss multiple games.

Andersen Out vs. Cavaliers  Monday, March 7 The Grizzlies announced Andersen has a left shoulder subluxation and will be re-evaluated in 3-5 days. 

Andersen, 37, was averaging just 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game in seven appearances with the Miami Heat this season before he was traded to the Grizzlies, where his minutes increased. In Memphis, he has averaged 3.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in nine games. 

One cause for his lack of minutes or appearances in Miami was a knee injury that kept him sidelined. This latest injury will be a concern for the Grizzlies, who acquired Andersen in the hope that he could provide depth on the block while center Marc Gasol was out with a broken right foot and while Brandan Wright worked his way back into regular playing time after returning from knee surgery.

With Andersen out, JaMychal Green is likely to see even more time on the block, while Wright's minutes will likely increase as well. And th ...
