Antonio Russell, the father of Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard D'Angelo Russell, was arrested last week following a traffic stop in Louisville, Kentucky.
Renee Murphy and C.J. Daniels of WHAS11 report police originally pulled over Russell for not wearing his seat belt. During the stop, he admitted to having marijuana and officers discovered a water bottle filled with a substance later identified as codeine.
The report notes the Ohio State product's father was arrested and charged with "possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and having marijuana."

The outlet noted the elder Russell couldn't be reached for comment and has yet to retain an attorney.
Fred Kerber of the New York Post reported back in June that the Lakers' newest star attributed the work habits that helped him get selected second overall in the 2015 draft to his father. He also discussed the drug-laden area of Louisville in which he grew up before moving when he reached sixth grade.
