Deron Williams Injury: Updates on Mavericks PG’s Abdomen and Return

Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams is battling a sports hernia and will reportedly miss at least one postseason contest.

Williams Out for Game 3 Thursday, April 21 ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon relayed the news that Williams will miss Thursday's contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Williams departed Monday's Game 2 in the second half when he was in "excruciating pain," per MacMahon.

Williams, 31, averaged 14.1 points (second on the team), 5.8 assists (first on the team) and 2.9 rebounds per game in 65 games during the regular season for the Mavericks in 2015-16.

He provided stability at point guard, though his health is now a major concern, as he missed the early part of the postseason as well.



Indeed, a sports hernia has affected Williams for much of the season, as he acknowledged after the team's Game 1 loss to the Thunder on Saturday.
