Dirk Nowitzki Spoofs Geico Ad in New Dallas Mavericks ‘Game Day’ Commercial

Behold the beauty of the Internet: Dirk Nowitzki and talking camels in the same article.

In a strange but marvelous bit of advertising, the Dallas Mavericks forward has gifted fans with a new television spot spoofing Geico’s “Hump Day” ad.

For those of you unfamiliar with this particular Geico spot, here’s the original ad, where a certain even-toed ungulate gets progressively more excited over the day of the week.



Drawing on this ad, Nowitzki and the Mavericks put out "Guess What Day It Is?" which was spotted by Sean Highkin of USA Today. This ad features a certain 7’0” German basketball player getting hyped over the fact that it’s game day. 

Considering that ticket commercials for most NBA teams continue to be highlight-driven pump-up reels, this new Mavericks spot is a fun change of pace. Training camp is only a month away at this point, and who better to remind you that basketball isn’t far off than Nowitzki?
