Rockets 97, Warriors 96—Final
James Harden hit a step-back jumper with 2.7 seconds remaining to help the Houston Rockets clip the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors 97-96 on Thursday night.
Houston avoided a 3-0 series deficit, instead earning a chance to even the series at two wins apiece on Sunday in Game 4. Harden netted a game-best 35 points, adding nine assists and eight rebounds.
Golden State nearly pulled off the victory despite trailing by 17 points before halftime and Klay Thompson going 0-of-7 from beyond the arc. The Warriors connected on just 6-of-25 three-pointers.
Marreese Speights and Ian Clark combined for 33 points off the bench. Thompson finished with 17.
Donatas Motiejunas and Dwight Howard both tallied double-doubles, while Michael Beasley chipped in 12 points—including a pair of clutch late free throws—for the Rockets.
