The Charlotte Hornets clearly feel Jeremy Lamb is an important part of their long-term plans, signing the swingman to a contract extension Monday.
General manager Rich Cho announced the move and hinted he wanted Lamb to remain in Charlotte for the foreseeable future, per a news release on the Hornets' official website:
We were thrilled with the opportunity to add Jeremy Lamb to our roster this past summer. Through the preseason and start of our regular season, Jeremy has proven to be the type of player and professional we seek here in Charlotte. We're excited to have him as a part of the Hornets for years to come.
Lamb has had a strong start to the season for the Hornets, averaging 10 points and three rebounds in 16.5 minutes per contest over the first two games. Based on early indications, it looks as though he will play an important role coming off the bench for the team this season.
Head coach Steve Clifford has been impressed with the 23-year-old in that role thus far, per Justin Thomas of ESPN Charlotte 730 AM on Twitter:
