LeBron James: Rhetorical Criticism of LeBron’s New Commercial

I don't really know that this commercial changes anything.  

The issues with his public persona are as follows:
 
1. He made an unpopular move to leave his original team.
 
2. He tortured said team by creating an event with much fanfare to announce that he would be leaving in an event planned by his manager (best friend+fellow with only high school education).
 
3. When asked about his decision, he attempted to claim his relationship to this team wasn't that important and partly a media creation (this is a guy who inked "chosen one" on his shoulders when he was popularly known as the savior of Cleveland.
 
4. When he further realized the extent of his poor decision making, he attempted to race bait.
 
These issues aren't insurmountable, but he continues to make them worse.  Think of Kobe, he had a much worse image problem, and basically said that he didn't care.  All he does is win and be cocky and has pretty much gotten back to the place that he was before the infidelity came to light.  Let's not forget, that he was also charged with rape, which is much worse ...
