It was surreal to watch the Cavaliers lay down and concede Game 6 in the last 90 seconds Thursday night.
We all thought LeBron James was going to swoop in and snatch the Cavaliers off the brink of elimination.
For two possessions early in the fourth quarter, it seemed we were about to be witnesses once more. James hit two straight treys to draw the Cavs to within four, 78-74. That's as close as Cleveland got, as the Celtics answered and the Cavs could not hit a big shot.
The 6,000 fans at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland left wondering if their superstar was headed out of town.
And fans across the NBA started clearing out fantasy cap room and tailoring their jerseys for No. 23, including one of the most famous diehards.
"We need LeBron," Knicks fan Spike Lee told the New York Daily News before Game 5 in the series Tuesday night.
"I think there's a better chance of LeBron ending up in the orange and blue the sooner [the Cavaliers] are kicked out of the playoffs.
"The sooner the Cavs leave, the better the chance that LeBron will be in New York."
