The 2009 NBA Draft was one with tremendous depth. Players like DeJuan Blair were taken in the second round. It was the one of the best drafts in recent memory.

However, through all this, the Memphis Grizzlies still managed to screw up.

The Memphis Grizzlies came into the draft with the second overall pick. They already had a great starting lineup with the only weakness being the point guard spot.

They took Hasheem Thabeet thinking that he could be their center for the future. He ended up in the D-League a few months later.

Ironically enough, the best players of this draft are all point guards. The Memphis Grizzlies could have taken Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, Darren Collison, Rodrique Beaubois, Johnny Flynn, Jrue Holiday or Ty Lawson.

They basically could choose which guy would fit their lineup best. Mike Conley is a solid point guard, but most of the players I just mentioned have already become more recognizable in the league.

Tyreke Evans had a rookie season comparable to that of Michael Jordan or LeBron James.

Stephen Curry has become the face of the Golden State Warriors.
