Nearing the half point mark of the NBA season the assumed contenders to the league throne have slowly becgan to distance themselves from the competition.
The top four, Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, and Orlando have remained near the top of the standings for the duration of the season while teams like San Antonio and Denver are starting to assert themselves.
During the course of play the best teams have shown an edge in talent, experience, and toughness but all have been exposed to weaknesses in their cores.
For some of them their short-comings could prove to be fatal, while others need to make simple adjustments to fortify their defenses in preparation for the final sprint.
The strengths of these teams have all but assured them of a playoff spot, but their liabilities leave them vunerable to potential pitfalls when it comes time for the postseason.
These positions are susceptible to change as some of the teams will change order and others may be replaced due to their own interior misgivings.
