New York Knicks Should Hire Jeff Van Gundy as Their Next Coach

The New York Knicks are 7-9 since their acquisition of Carmelo Anthony, and fans are already calling for the resignation of Mike D'Antoni.

The Knicks, who currently have two of the 10 starters from the 2011 All-Star Game, have not been able to produce any sort of flow and consistency on the court.

Knicks' fans are not ready to blame Carmelo or Amar'e for the lack of results. Before they do that, they would like to see a coach who actually fits the personnel on the roster.

That coach is not Mike D'Antoni.

The right man for the Knicks' coaching job is Jeff Van Gundy. Van Gundy is beloved in New York for his previous tenure with the Knicks, where he led them to the NBA Finals.

JVG would bring a defense-first mentality that D'Antoni has never possessed. In fact, D'Antoni-coached teams have averaged 104.00 PPG over his career. 

Jeff Van Gundy has proven he can handle the New York media and the lofty expectations that come with it. His attitude, demeanor and toughness have resonated with the people in New York City.
