Orlando Magic Week Nine Preview: Vince Carter and the Christmas Hangover

After winning two games early in the week, Orlando came up in the game that mattered most. Coach Stan Van Gundy came out before the game on Christmas Day to say that he felt teams shouldn't play on holidays. That must be the reason that the Magic looked like they took the day off against the Boston Celtics on Friday. Orlando hosted the Utah Jazz on Monday and were able to work Jameer Nelson back onto the court. He finished with only two points but it was still nice to see him in action. JJ Redick received some advice from his college coach Mike Krzyzewski of Duke. The pointers obviously helped out as Redick chimed in with 20 points. Dwight Howard looked good with five blocks to go with his 21 points and nine boards. Both Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis added 18 points of their own in the 104-99 victory. Houston came to town on Wednesday night and just weren't able to keep up with the Magic. Howard took advantage of the frontcourt mismatch and pulled in 20 rebounds while blocking four shots. Nelson got back into rhythm, chipping in 15 points, four assists and four boards. Orlando was able to cruise to a 102-87 win. It was a "Blue Christmas" for Magic fans on Friday, as the ...
