Patrick Beverley Injury: Updates on Rockets PG’s Concussion and Return

Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverley won't be in the lineup for the time being because of a concussion.

Beverley Out vs. Kings Thursday, Nov. 5 Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle reported Beverley won't suit up against the Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena on Friday, leaving Ty Lawson to run the point.   

Injuries have been an unfortunate subplot to Beverley's young NBA career. After surging into a starting role in 2013-14, the 27-year-old has struggled to remain in that spot. This March he was forced out of action for season-ending wrist surgery, and in March 2014 he tore the meniscus in his right knee.

Despite off-court troubles that ultimately resulted in his leaving Denver, Lawson has proved capable of supplanting Beverley in the Rockets' starting five.

Veteran Jason Terry and superstar James Harden are combo guards who can run the offense if need be, which in part explains Beverley's modest 19 minutes-per-game average this season.
