Rajon Rondo Injury: Updates on Kings Star’s Status and Return

Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo is battling a slew of injuries that will prevent him from appearing in at least one game.

Rondo out vs. Pelicans Wednesday, March 16 Rondo, 30, is dealing with turf toe, a sprained right thumb and a right shoulder contusion, according to an official medical update from the team. 

In his first season in Sacramento, Rondo has been largely healthy. He has only missed three games this season, one due to a league suspension and one more after hurting his hand in February. 

The 2015-16 season has seen a return to form for Rondo, who signed a one-year, "prove it" deal in Sacramento last summer. He's averaging 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 11.9 assists per game, putting him at or around his career highs in all three categories. Criticism of Rondo's play stems from his defense, which has been below par, and his general contrarian nature.
