Terrence Ross had until 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday night to sign a new deal with the Toronto Raptors if he wanted to avoid becoming a restricted free agent July 1. He did just that.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Ross and the Raptors reached an agreement on a three-year, $33 million extension. The swingman weighed in on his decision:
The Raptors selected Ross with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Washington. This is his fourth season with the team, and he is averaging 9.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game throughout his career. He won the Slam Dunk Contest as a rookie and flashed his potential when he scored 51 points against the Los Angeles Clippers during his second season.
Despite the early accolades, offensive consistency has been a concern. He is a 41.6 percent shooter from the field and a 37.4 percent shooter from three-point range. Still, he is only 24 years old and versatile enough to play shooting guard or small forward.
He is also one of the team’s most durable players. He played in at least 73 games in each of the first three seasons of his career.
