At 9-1, the San Antonio Spurs are off to one of the best starts in the history of their franchise. Point guard Tony Parker is averaging 18.6 points per game, 7.6 assists, and shooting 52 percent from the field, yet no one seems to care.
They sure do care about Parker's alledged texts to Erin Barry though.
In another example of all that's wrong with sports, an issue that should be reserved for the privacy of one's own domain has become the talk of the sports world.
The Spurs defeated the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night and earned a tie for the top spot in the Western Conference, only to see their historic achievement diminished by soap opera news.
Parker has quietly re-established himself as one of the NBA's top point guards and the Spurs have successfully blended their youth with their experience. San Antonio looks like a title contender thus far.
You would never know any of that unless you are actually a fan of basketball.
