Von Wafer may be back in the United States for Christmas, but it’s going to be a while before he returns to the NBA hardwood.
According to FOX Houston, Wafer failed his physical last night and any potential deals are now off the table.
The Rockets still apparently have interest in Wafer if he can get back in shape, but until then, they have turned to Michael Harris from Houston’s NBA Development League team.
Harris, currently third in scoring on the Rio Grande Vipers, is averaging 25.3 PPG while also pulling down 7.1 RPG.
In attendance at Toyota Center solely to see the game, Harris was told the news shortly after Houston’s 108-99 victory over the LA Clippers.
“It’s a very big deal,” Harris told FOX Houston. “I was just coming to the game and they hit me with this. It’s a very good Christmas present.”
Well, Merry Christmas Harris.
“I am going to do some of the same things I did in the D-League,” Harris said. “The Rockets already have leaders. I am going to try and bring energy.”
