Chicago Blackhawks Expected To Sign Prospect Brandon Pirri

With the news of Cristobal Huet agreeing to play in the Swiss league next season, there has been little talk of the rumor surrounding 'Hawks' prospect Brandon Pirri.

Today TSN insider Bob McKenzie tweeted that Pirri is leaving Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to sign an entry level deal with the Blackhawks.

Although it is unconfirmed, it seems as though Pirri leaving RPI was a strong possibility with his linemate Jerry D'Amigo leaving school to turn pro as well.

Pirri, 19, was the Blackhawks second round pick, 59th overall back in 2009 out of the OJHL and has developed nicely in his one year at RPI.

Listed at 5' 11" and 163 pounds, Pirri is a playmaking center who is known for his puck handling, strong skating ability and is an above average forechecker.

In Pirri's first and only season with RPI he scored 11 goals and 32 assists in 39 games, leaving him second on the team in points with 35.

If the 'Hawks do sign Pirri to an entry level deal, it provides them with just another young player they can add to their already youthful arsenal.
