Pavel Datsyuk is still a magical player. Slowed by injuries at the start of the year that kept him out of the Detroit Red Wings lineup, Datsyuk has returned and is starting to hit his stride.
Datsyuk has scored goals in each of his last two games, and when he put the puck in the net past Jonas Gustavsson of the Boston Bruins Wednesday night, it was the 300th goal of his spectacular career. Datsyuk is a magician with the puck, and he is constantly creating on the ice. He has an array of moves that allow him to get open in the prime scoring areas, but his best attribute is his ability to set up his teammates.
The Red Wings will be at home Friday night against the Edmonton Oilers, a team that appears to be improving but still has great difficulty playing 60 consistent minutes. The Red Wings are coming off a stinging 3-2 overtime loss to Boston, and that game hurt because they dominated for long stretches but couldn't come away with the two points.
Look for Detroit to match the effort it had against Boston, and it could result in four or more goals versus Edmonton. We expect Datsyuk to score multiple points and lead the way.
