Anyone who loves great hockey was anticipating the Detroit Red Wings versus Vancouver Canucks game last Wednesday, December 22.
Although the game featured two teams streaking in different directions (Wings were 1-1-1 heading into the tilt while the Canucks were on a four game winning streak), the game was going to be a dandy either way.
Detroit went on to win the game 4-3 in overtime, but the win came at a very big loss.
Midway through the first period, Pavel Datsyuk was coming in along the right boards and cut in to the front of the net. He tripped over former teammate Mikael Samuelsson in front of the Vancouver net and landed awkwardly on his wrist.
He would leave after the first intermission and it was confirmed that Datsyuk had broken a bone in his wrist and would miss up to at least four weeks.
But after Datsyuk didn't come back after the first period, immediate attention was shone onto Henrik Zetterberg.
Pavel Datsyuk's is a super star and even a deep team like Detroit it's a huge blow to them.
