Detroit Red Wings Rumor: Nabokov To Detroit, Deal Could Be Done Soon

Darren Dreger tweeted 30 minutes ago that Detroit is in talks with ex-San Jose Sharks starting goalie Evgeni Nabokov and that a deal could be done as soon as this afternoon.

As per NHL's collective bargaining agreement, if Nabokov were to sign a contract, he would have to clear waivers for him to suit up for the Red Wings.

Clearing waivers, however, leaves him unprotected to be able to be picked up by one of the other 29 NHL teams.

With this news hitting Twitter, one has to think a few things.

1) Is Osgood's injury all but ending his career? He reached 400 wins, has won Stanley Cup's, what else there to do? Is his time done in the NHL?

2) Is Jimmy more banged up than we think? 

3) Are frustrations rising with Howard's inconsistent play?

Well, only time will tell but I'm pretty sure number one is the biggest possibility.

If Nabokov clears waivers it would be a shock. But if Kyle Wellwood could generate some waiver drama, what could we expect from Nabokov?
