Detroit Red Wings’ Top 20 Draft Picks in Club History

One thing that puts Detroit above the rest of the NHL, is their ability to draft late and come up with stars nonetheless.

Detroit has been a top team for the better part of the last two decades and have had the joy of drafting late.

Prior to the salary cap era, Detroit built teams through trades and free agency but still had late picks to build through the draft.

Detroit currently has those late draft picks on their roster that turned out to be some of the best players in the league today.

The following slide show ranks the best draft picks in the Detroit Red Wings history.

Mind you, this isn't an official list but, in my opinion, evens out to a pretty good list.
