The Minnesota Wild announced Wednesday that forward James Sheppard has been signed to a one-year deal worth at least $892,500, although the exact number has not been released.
That figure comes from the NHL's restricted free-agent clause, where a restricted free agent making anywhere between $660,000 up to $1 million must receive an offer of at least 105 percent of their previous salary.
Last season, Sheppard's salary was $850,000.
Minnesota also made five qualifying offers to Guillaume Latendresse, Josh Harding, Anton Khudobin, Nate Prosser and Matt Kassian.
The Wild did not extend qualifying offers to Jaime Sifers and Morten Madsen.
More coverage of free-agent signings as well as the 2010 NHL draft as Community Leader Nick Maxson attends the Minnesota Wild pre-draft luncheon on Friday, June 18.
