On April 1, Calgary Flames superstar winger Jarome Iginla tallied his 1,000th career point, but he's still missing the Stanley Cup that he deserves.
What's even more impressive about Iginla's 1,000 points the way he's done it—he started on a Flames team that was terrible, played in the "dead puck era" and has never had one of his linemates make the NHL All-Star Game.
Iginla has led the Flames in scoring in each of last 10 seasons and is the heart of the team in Calgary.
The problem is that, after the last five years of mortgaging the future in unsuccessful attempts to win immediately, the Flames are going downhill with very few good prospects, and Iginla isn't getting any younger.
Iginla will be 34 this summer, and the Flames are at least two years away from being able to contend.
